Here I Am Again...

Here I am again on my own. Going down the only road I've ever known. Like a drifter I was born to walk alone.

Got that song in my head this morning. Sara moved out today. She's getting married in 11 days. I'm feeling a little sad and a little lonely...and she's only been gone an hour.

I've had a lot of roommates in my life. Thinking back I've had 9 since my freshman year of college. They have all been good experiences that have stretched me, grown me, and taught me more about myself and other people. But they've all moved on now. Some are married, some moved away, some I still keep in touch with, some I don't, but they have all moved on. And here I am again on my own.

So...Heather, Julie, Kristin, Daun, Rachel, Christi, Shelli, Traci, & Sara: thanks for the memories. Thanks for putting up with me...even if it was for a short time. Thanks for late night movies and cigar smoking and food hangovers. Thanks for the shared laughter, shared tears, and shared bathrooms. Thanks for grocery shopping in our pjs, Christmas shopping in a wheelchair, and car shopping with your laptop in tow. Thanks for doing life with me. I'm blessed and better because of each one of you.

Oh Karla, I'm not exaggerating when I say this. You are the BEST ROOMMATE I ever, ever had. Christmas shopping in a wheelchair. Oh my goodness that was an experience. Remember play practice? And the nightwatchman? And singing Billy Joel songs? And crying over dumb boys? And so many other things that if I write much more this will be a gigantic, enormous paragraph?
I wish we could go back 15 years if only for a day...

Remember your sweet mom trying to help our suicidal goldfish by using Saran wrap? I still remember her saying, "But I pokes holes in it!" So funny.

Ok, that was supposed to be POKED and not POKES. I was writing with a wiggling 2 year old on my lap.
