Reasons or Seasons...

So, I'm reading this hilarious new book I bought this weekend. It's about a single thirty-something who is fed up with the Christian single's group at church and determined to break out of the rut her life has become. I swear to you that someone has been following me around to write this thing. It is totally cracking me up and I can't put it down.

Anyway, in the book, the main character talks about the people in her single's group and categorizes them into two categories: Seasons and Reasons. These are people who are A) single for a season, meaning they will probably eventually get married; or B) single for a reason, meaning there is a specific issue that is standing in between them and marital bliss.

It has really got me thinking. Am I a Season or a Reason? In the book, she figures she is probably a Reason, but for the life of her, she can't figure out what the Reason is. I think I must be in the same boat. I would probably consider myself a Reason. There must be something about me that repels men in some way. Aside from the obvious, I'm not a 5'0" size 2, is there a Reason I'm still single? It's easy to see the Reasons in others, but not so easy to point the finger at the specific character flaws when I'm looking in the mirror.

Anyone out there willing to give some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism? This may be your one chance to tell me when I promise not to get offended.

I have no constructive criticism because I think you are wonderful! It's not a REASON.

And I have to say, I have read all the books in her series (including the Spa Girls--which, in my opinion, are not as good as the first series). I LOVED them!! The reality t.v., People magazines, designer brands....loved it, loved it, loved it and was very sad to see them end!!

You mean to tell me that we were at the SAME NKOTB concert?!!! Seriously, after all these years, there's still more to learn. ;-)

Obviously this was before we really knew each other. So I'm curious, who was your fave? Mine was soo Jordan.

Jordan was so my favorite too! I would keep an NKOTB book in my desk in the 6th grade and it had all their pictures on the front. I would seriously pull out the book every 5 minutes just to look at his picture. too hot to trot! and just for the record I thought Danny looked like a ape/monkey- he did nothing for me!! :)

Ok, I have to admit that I really wasn't all that into NKOTB. I went to the concert because I was trying to reach out to a girl at school that I felt sorry for.

Now, if you want to talk about Duran Duran, I'm all in!!

KLo--You're soo cool. Even at that age, you were reaching out to others. I was just interested in the boys. And look where that got me!! ;)

Sorry I'm of no help when it comes to Duran Duran.

I can say without a shawdow of a doubt that you my love are in fact a "season." Only the good Lord knows why some wonderful man hasn't snatched you up yet, but I'm practically chopping at the bit to see who He has chosen to be your beloved husband. Oooo...I'm just so excited about it!
